Ants are a year-round problem in Brisbane, but they get busier when the weather warms up and after heavy rain. A trail across the kitchen bench or along the skirting boards is usually the first sign. What you see is only a small part of the colony, which is often living outside under paths, in garden beds or inside a wall cavity.
When you call, we ask where the ants are coming in, how big they are and whether they bite. That helps the crew we book work out which type of ant they are dealing with. Coastal brown ants, black house ants and small sugar ants each respond to different baits and sprays, and some need the nest itself treated rather than just the trail you can see.

Before the visit, wipe down benchtops and put food away, but try not to spray the trails with household products for a day or two beforehand. Killing the ants you can see makes it harder for the crew to track where they are coming from, and baits work better when the ants are still active.
